This event takes place during full-time recruiting season, in the fall of the second year—which is at the midpoint of June-start internships, and after the completion of Feb-start internships. Students report out on research progress (or provide preliminary results), and network with partner companies. In addition to allowing students to receive critical input on their projects, this activity serves as an opportunity for partner companies to learn more about students and their research, and for the students to engage with companies about their career interests. These presentations also inform future project development, prepare first-year students for their upcoming LGO internships, and sometimes lead to research collaboration among partners.

  • Location. MIT Bartos Theater / Lower Atrium (Wiesner Building/E15-070): 20 Ames Street, Lower Level, Cambridge, MA 02142
  • Remote participation. If you cannot attend in person, remote participation will be available via Zoom for the presentation sessions. A link to this will be sent to you upon registration for the event.
  • Parking. Public parking options can be found HERE. It is recommended that attendees use Uber/Lyft or public transportation if possible due to limited parking. Please let us know if you need parking provided for mobility or other accessibility needs.

Format

The LGO Class of 2024 will be divided into three sessions, to report out on their internship research projects during a presentation session, followed by a poster session.

Below is the agenda for the day. We have determined the schedule based on availability from students, company supervisors and faculty advisors. Note that Q&A will take place during the poster sessions. All times are in Eastern Time.

Mobility & Standing

  • A ramp to this entrance of Bartos Theater/Lower Atrium area can be found on the right immediately past the building on Ames Street (between Ames and Main Street). This can be viewed within the bottom right quadrant on the MIT campus accessibility map.
  • Elevator access to Bartos Theater and the Lower Atrium can be found on the first floor of (Wiesner Building/E15-070).
  • Seating for wheelchair users is available near the entrance into the theater (behind the fixed rows of seating).
  • The poster sessions will last 60 minutes. Let us know if you need a chair or stool for this

Dietary restrictions. We have asked our caterers to provide at least one item of sustenance during each meal that is vegan and gluten-free. Please reach out to lgo-internships@mit.edu if you have additional dietary restrictions.
