To align with the internship expectations and thesis research scope while ensuring that LGO partner companies enjoy all appropriate rights to intellectual property created during the internships, and that members fully utilize the intellectual property generated by the LGO Students, MIT Legal has developed an agreement for participants to sign:

MIT LGO Host Agreement/MIT LGO Student NDA Agreement

Issues of proprietary data and intellectual property are covered by the MIT LGO Host and MIT LGO Student NDA Agreement.

The MIT LGO Host Agreement is signed between MIT and each Company (Host Institution).

The LGO Student NDA Agreement is signed between each student and the Host Institution. Upon company’s request, the student’s faculty advisor may be asked to sign the acknowledgement letter referencing the LGO Student NDA Agreement. All LGO internship participating Host Institutions use and sign the LGO Student Non-Disclosure Agreement provided by MIT. Any additional agreements of the Host Institution proposed to be signed by the LGO Student shall be listed in the Appendix A of the Host and NDA Agreement, and MIT LGO must receive written notification of such additions as well as the copies of the additional agreements prior to execution of the Host Agreement.

Reviewing publicly disclosed documents

Early in their internship, interns are asked to identify the process, timeline, and responsible individuals at the Host Institution for the review of internship and thesis deliverables that are publicly disclosed. The information should be discussed and confirmed by the direct supervisor and project champion, as appropriate. The review period timeline must match what is agreed to in the MIT LGO Host and NDA Agreement.
